Breakfast Briefing - 6 September 2016

Introduction to the Accelerator Programme
8:00am Tuesday 6th September - RBS, Deansgate

Join us at the RBS on Deansgate at 8.00am on Tuesday 6th September to find out about the Accelerator Programme.
Building your career as a professional is becoming more and more complicated. There are more steps to take if you want to progress to the top of a firm.
The shapes, sizes and structures of professional firms are becoming more and more diverse. At the moment there is nothing there to help you:
  • Decide what you really want out of your career
  • Understand how you go about getting what you want
  • Implement the process.
We want to put programmes in place to do exactly that.
Outside the very large firms, there is little or no training and development in the areas of your role outside your technical skills.
Even in the large firms the training they provide is aimed at meeting the needs of the firm as opposed to your needs.
Our first programme starts in November 2016 and is focussed on young professionals who are moving from being pure fee earners to take on more responsibility or want to develop their understanding of how they can add more value, how their organisation works and how they can progress within it.
At our breakfast session on 6th September we will explain the structure of the programme and have a quick look at each of the 6 areas that the programme will cover:
  • Personal Impact and Brand
  • Commercial Awareness
  • People and Teams
  • Becoming a Business Advisor
  • Marketing and Business Development
  • Culture, Change, Power and Politics
If you want to develop your career and are interested to find out more we look forward to meeting you.

To secure your place, please email admin@mysg.co.uk.

May Update

The Manchester Young Solicitors Group had their most successful event to date last month with 100 tickets selling out in a record 30 minutes! The event was held in conjunction with the Manchester Young Professional Network (MYPN) at the exclusive Hotel Gotham.   Upon arrival attendees were presented with an Easter themed coloured named badge.  The colour would depend if you were a MYSG member or a MYPN member.  You then had to find your match from the opposite group to win a free glass of Prosecco.  This was a great way for our members to meet new people from other groups and truly embrace the spirit of what networking events should be about. Thank you to our sponsors, Interlink Recruitment, Yorkshire Bank and Shoosmiths who also had a fantastic time at the event.

As ever, to balance out the alcohol and frivolity, the MYSG are committed to hosting their health and wellbeing events and Lida Khanverdi, our wellbeing representative on the MYSG committee held a successful event in April at Lululemon with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.  Here our members were treated to complimentary yoga classes and lessons on how to cope with the stress of everyday life.

May is also setting up to be an exciting month for the MYSG with two fantastic networking opportunities.  The first event is on the 18th May at Kiehl’s on King Street.  We will be joined by our good friends, the Manchester  Young Chartered Accountants Group (MYCAG) and attendees will be treated to complimentary treatments, a fashion show and goodies from Liquorice and Hey Little Cupcake.  All the proceeds raised will be donated to our charity, Forever Manchester. Please visit the events section of our website to purchase tickets.
The second networking event will be joint with the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group and the Manchester Barristers Chambers.  This will be a quiz in the Living Room, Deansgate, on the 26th May.  Thank you in advance to our lovely sponsors for this event, Deans Court Chambers and Anakin Seal.

If you are interested or know anyone at your firm who is looking to develop their network and business development skills please sign up to our mailing list at  https://www.mysg.co.uk and follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook. Members are encouraged to check the website regularly for news and updates as we are receiving an unprecedented amount of interest in each of our events and attendance is on a first come first served basis.

Kind regards,
